Analysis of my questionnare results
The questionnaire that was carried out was based on the popularity of music magazines and what was most preferred by the audiences I asked. My target audience for the questionnaire ranged from 16-43 year olds, this was helpful because it helped me to collect a variety of results, only 20% of the audience who carried out the questionnaire were not teenagers which meant that it would be most suitable for me to base my music magazine around the target audience of teenagers.
Music Genre
Overall the most popular result for the music genre with 7 people voting was for 'POP'. My research into pop music means that its a term that derives from "popular", its a genre that originally originated from the western world during the 1950's to the 1960's and still continues in todays society. I next decided to research into what pop artists teenagers are inspired by and listen to. The search results shown that:
By researching the artists then helped me to decide which artist/s I would like to feature on the front of the magazine 90% of the audience chose Male artist, Female artist and Mixed band and the other 10% chose male band. As a final decision I have chosen for a Male artist to feature on the front of my magazine cover.
Mastheads
I researched into Mastheads to help me make a decision on which one was most suitable to pick for my music magazine, The Sun online paper source gave advice that the Masthead needed to be short and no longer than one word, it has to be something that catches peoples eye and its mostly important that its a name everyone can remember.
50% of the audience chose the masthead 'CHARTS' but I disliked this because my magazine wasn't about the weekly charts put about Pop Music so instead I decided to choose the name 'TOP POPS' its catchy and was inspired by the music channel top of the pops which is music based, the name also shows the audience that the magazine is about pop music.
Contents Page
40% of the audience voted for interviews with the artists to be included in the magazine, to make this successful I would have to create an interview with the male artist that I had chosen to feature on the front of my magazine cover. The interview would be written in a 1st person response and would involve questions and answers.
