The creation of my magazine

Firstly it was important for me to plan my magazine covers and what I inspire it to look like. When planning it was critical that I included the key elements for the front cover in order for me to make my magazine look and be successful to my captivated audience.

To help me plan my magazine cover I used the inspiration of official magazines. I used these magazines below to help me:

It was crucial that to make my magazine successful I focussed on the main parts of what teenagers would look for in a magazine.
By doing my research I focussed on:

• Types of images
• Types of bold texts that catches peoples eye
• Home styles (Type of colours incorporated into my cover)

First I started off by creating a theme, this meant thinking about what the primary topic of my magazine would be. Our main topic was the School of KHS (King Henry School).

Next I thought about what software would be most suitable for me to design my front cover of my school magazine on so I used InDesign:



Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing software application produced by Adobe Systems. It can be used to create works such as posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers, and books. InDesign can also publish content suitable for tablet devices in conjunction with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.

 

'The best media students always copy' is a piece of advice given to me by my Media Studies teacher so taking his advice I researched into what makes a magazine cover successful:

1. Relating it to your style of audience - in this case my audience are teenagers ageing from 11-18
2. Has a strong visual appeal - it should be captivating for my audience
3. Being unique - even though I have to copy a magazine I think its important that I make my magazine something that isn't out there to make it catch people's eye.
4. It gives an appropriate message to the audience- It should be inspirational 
5. It stands out - it has to be eye catching to the audience in order for sales to rise
